Tell us a bit about who you are and what you do.

My name is Heather Loduca and I am a born and raised Torontonian. I have been involved with fashion in some way, shape, or form basically my entire life. From making and sewing clothing with my mom when I was young, writing blogs (that soon turned into vlogs and YouTube videos), starting my own clothing company, being on set, and now styling and costume designing, fashion has been at the heart of all of my professional endeavors. It has taken me a while to find exactly where my passion lies, but I am so happy and grateful that I have found it with wardrobe styling.

What is your favourite thing about being a stylist in Toronto?

I absolutely love being able to pull from a long list of amazing Toronto-based designers. Having high-end and versatile options at my fingertips when styling and putting together shoots is something that I have found to be essential. The collaborative and giving nature of creators in Toronto makes me remember how lucky I am to be based here. I also love how diverse the city is when shooting at different locations. From beaches to cliffs, to old and new street vibes, Toronto’s versatile landscape makes it the perfect place for me to plan varying shoots and grow my portfolio. It also allows the photographers I work with to channel their creative energy, which ties in well to my wardrobe styling.

What is one thing that you wish you could change about Canada’s creative scene?

Although, like I said, Toronto provides a very supportive and collaborative environment for creators like myself, I wish we had more of an international presence. I have seen it with creators all around me - it can be hard to achieve global recognition for your work while based out of Canada. However, educating creators and consumers about the options available to support Canadian entrepreneurs – much like what Rumble Magazine is doing – is a great start.
